In 2025, a new initiative linked to the Children’s Procession of Verges is born: the first poster contest, a proposal that seeks to encourage the creativity and artistic talent of young students. The initiative emerges as a natural extension of the already well-established graphic design contest of the Procession of Verges, thus giving younger participants a space for involvement and visibility.
In this first edition, the contest will be carried out exclusively with the 4th-year ESO students of the Institut-Escola Francesc Cambó, who will develop the project within the design curriculum. Participation will be mandatory and graded as part of their academic program, thereby ensuring that each student engages in creating an original proposal for the Procession’s poster.
The objective of the contest is twofold: on the one hand, to foster the students’ artistic expression, and on the other, to connect their work to a real project with visibility beyond the classroom. The winning poster will be published and will serve as the official image of this year’s Children’s Procession of Verges. In addition, all submitted works will be exhibited in a prominent space to recognize the dedication and talent of the participants.
The exhibition of the works will take place on March 23 in the multipurpose hall, where all the posters created by the students will be on display. On this occasion, three works will be awarded: one winner and two finalists, who will receive special recognition.
This initiative not only reinforces the importance of the Children’s Procession as a unique event, but also allows young people to engage with local traditions from a contemporary and creative perspective. The first edition of this poster contest marks the beginning of a project with the ambition of continuity, with future editions expected to include other educational levels and broaden its scope.
With this contest, Verges reaffirms its commitment to culture and education, offering young people a unique opportunity to actively participate in the promotion and evolution of the Children’s Procession.
