We wouldn't fully understand the Verges Procession if we didn't consider the event that takes place on Easter Monday: the popular rice field served free of charge in the Placeta. It's neither a compensation for the work done nor a celebration of the task accomplished; it's simply another example of the town's need to build a community.

The food is prepared by the experts themselves, who are responsible for another of Verges' essential traditions: the Shrove Tuesday Soup.

More than seven hundred servings of rice

On Easter Monday, more than seven hundred portions of rice are served free of charge in Verges (a town of about 1,200 inhabitants), a fact that clearly illustrates the high level of participation and involvement that the townspeople have in the celebration of the Holy Thursday Procession.

After a few intense days, the adventure always ends with everyone sitting around the table, eating, drinking... and reinforcing the mechanisms that will allow the Procession and the Dance of Death to fill the streets again next year.
