Holy Thursday is, without a doubt, the most important day for the people of Vergelos. That day is when the entire town comes together to bring to life one of Catalonia's oldest and most emblematic traditions: the Procession of Verges.

A newsletter with the rehearsal schedule and vacant roles comes out around Carnival.

The stage

A month before Holy Thursday, the scaffold is set up in the main square, the costumes and props are ironed and checked, and rehearsals begin. Every night, the protagonists rehearse and prepare for their roles.

During Holy Week, rehearsals for the Children's Procession take place every afternoon, and dress rehearsals for the Adults' Procession take place every evening. The three days before Holy Thursday, the rehearsals in the square are already complete with lighting and sound. The dress rehearsal for the performance in the Plaça is on Wednesday. On that day, the square is filled with people from Verges, who are unable to see the play on Holy Thursday.
