Representation on the streets
Canonical provisions and customary practice establish that the Stations of the Cross must be performed on Good Friday, following the structure of medieval liturgical theatrical performances and constituting a distinctive feature of the Procession of Verges.
During the course of the itinerary, some scenes of great dramatic force occur, such as the three falls that Jesus suffers on the way to Calvary. The presence of these dialogues framed within a processional entourage can be considered an exceptional event, an element that gives the Procession of Verges a unique character, which goes beyond a conventional pious parade. The first fall takes place in the Placeta del 1 de Octubre.

The First Fall
Here Jesus performs the miracle of restoring sight to a blind pilgrim, a character who joins the head of the procession, just after the apostles, addressing the audience with some very characteristic verses.
Then two more scenes take place: that of the Three Marys, when the Virgin Mary, seeing her son so mistreated, rushes toward him and has a brief and emotional conversation; and that of Veronica, who charitably approaches to dry Jesus' face, and the image of the Messiah's face is engraved on the cloth she had used.
The third fall occurs before the final stretch of the procession begins. An exhausted and pitifully lacerated Jesus recites a moving verse in what is undoubtedly one of the most dramatic scenes of the Procession.
As the final culmination of the procession, the Dance of Death enters the parish church and, amidst a deafening silence, bows before the Blessed Sacrament, which is located in a side chapel. It is, without a doubt, one of the most symbolic moments of the festival.
