Night

The Verges Procession currently consists of three parts. The first takes place at 10 p.m. on a stage in the middle of the Plaza Mayor, where only spectators who have purchased tickets to see these scenes from the Passion cycle (approximately 1,500 people) are allowed access.

Representation in the square

The three years of Jesus' public life are reenacted against the backdrop of the medieval walls and fortification towers of the main square, with special emphasis on his final days and his sale, arrest, and conviction.

The second part takes place after the square performance. After the reading of Pontius Pilate's sentence, the actors head toward the church, the meeting point with the other elements and also the starting point of the procession itself. From this moment on, around midnight, the streets of Verges become the sites of the Via Dolorosa, and the scenes of Jesus Christ's journey to Calvary are reenacted there.

Representation on the streets

The public, located along the streets, watches the Procession pass by, illuminated only by lit torches, and by snails filled with oil and with a lit candle on the street dels Cargols.

The third part takes place after the tour of the town is over around 2:00 a.m. Jesus arrives at Calvary with the entire Jewish procession and is crucified. Les Manages, the Virgin Mary, the Jews, and the Dance of Death take part, culminating in a thought-provoking audiovisual presentation.

Crucifixion

Once he reaches Calvary, Jesus is crucified, accompanied by an audiovisual that aims to make us reflect on human cruelty.
