The Associació La Processó de Verges has announced the first edition of the Poster Contest for the 2025 Verges Procession, with the goal of giving artistic and contemporary value to the promotional image of this iconic event. The contest is open to artists from the Catalan-speaking territories (Països Catalans), and submissions will be accepted from September 20 to November 10, 2024.
Artistic and Cultural Promotion Through the Contest
This poster contest aims to merge contemporary art with the cultural heritage of the Verges Procession, offering participants the opportunity to reinterpret iconic elements such as the famous Dansa de la Mort (Dance of Death). The initiative seeks to foster creative talent both in the Empordà region and throughout the country, uniting art and tradition in one of the most renowned events in Catalonia.
Official Presentation and Esteemed Jury
The official launch, held on September 12, 2024, featured key figures from the art and cultural world. Among them was visual artist Assumpció Mateu, creator of the “Edition 0” poster, who explained the origins and objectives of the project. Art critic Toni Álvarez de Arana also spoke, emphasizing the contest’s connection to the artistic movement of the Empordà region.

Finalist works will be exhibited at Ca la Rosa from December 1 to January 1, and the winning poster will receive a €2,000 prize. The winning piece will also become part of the Association’s heritage collection, ensuring its preservation and continued significance in future editions.
